Meghan Markle Wears Pearl Earrings Gifted from the Queen to the WellChild Awards
It appears Meghan Markle decided to wear a special gift from her grandmother-in-law, the Queen, while attending the WellChild Awards with Prince Harry today. The Duchess of Sussex accessorized her Altuzarra suit with a pair of diamond and pearl stud earrings from Her Majesty, one Twitter user pointed out.

The earrings do match the ones Markle was seen wearing during her first official engagement with the Queen in June, where they celebrated the Mersey Gateway bridge opening, visited Storyhouse Theater, and attended a luncheon together.

Though fans of the Duchess initially thought the pearls were from Birks, her go-to jeweler, Buckingham Palace confirmed that they were actually a gift from the Queen, according to The Sun's royal correspondent, Emily Andrews. Markle wore the earrings with a cream boatneck Givenchy dress for her day's worth of engagements with Her Majesty.
It's unclear where the earrings are actually from, but Andrews speculated that they could've been from the Queen's personal collection rather than a new purchase.
Meghan isn't the only granddaughter-in-law to received jewelry from the sovereign. Just last month, Kate Middleton was spotted wearing the Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings from Her Majesty during her visit to Balmoral Castle. The exquisite accessories were originally given to the Queen from the ruler of Bahrain for her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947, People reports.
According to the blog Her Majesty's Jewel Vault, "The earrings each contain one large round diamond and four smaller ones, three baguette diamonds, and a Bahrain pearl dangling below."
Imagine having the Queen as your grandmother-in-law. 😱
